Linux on Win98?

I have a windows 98, 7 GB hard drive and 63 MB RAM. I have never used linux before and want to install it on my machine. I have tried downloading different versions of linux and creating live CD’s but i cant get it to work. Is there a site that will give me instuctions on how to install linux and a download that will work for me. I would like one that has a GUI. Thankyou.

Questions on installing Linux/Ubuntu on computer that has Win xp already.?

I would like to give this a try, I kind of like Ubuntu after using the live cd.

Whats the best way to do this…I want to keep XP and Ubuntu/Linux on the same machine.

Here’s what I have
2 hard drives
1 30gb with XP on it
1 150gb just with file storage on it

How do I do this, just start up the ‘install’ icon from the live CD? Do I need to do anything special? Should I put linux on the 150gb drive that has no OS on it currently?

How do I get the computer to let me choose Linux or XP upon start up? Can this even be done?

Thanks in advance for your help, and feel free to post links to help files on this if you have them!

How do you fix a FAT32 hard disk partition which Windows XP won’t read, but every other OS will?

I have a 60GB FAT32 harddisk partition on a dual boot (Windows XP/Win98) PC. It has worked fine for 2 years. Now, following an improper shutdown and the resulting WinXP ‘checking disks for errors’ screen on startup, Windows XP can’t even read the volume name and asks if I want to format the drive when I try to open it. Properties dialog shows Filesystem: RAW. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the partition as far as Windows 98 is concerned (verifies fine with scandisk), and Linux Live CDs such as SLAX also open the partition with no trouble. There is nothing wrong with the physical disk or XP drivers, since other partitions on the drive are fine even from XP. Is there any way to ‘fix’ the disc, i.e. persuade XP that it is fine, short of backing up everything and reformatting (not easy since I don’t have any large HDDs to hand so I’d have to use a stack of DVDs).
