How to Get an English Knoppix Live CD?
I need to use a Knoppix CD to hack into my parents’ computer to disable UAC. And while I’m not new to Linux, I am new to German (despite the fact that I’m half German). All attempts to get the English version on the same disk have failed. Is there a WORKING method for translating it on the disk I have, or where can I find an English CD? (I’ve searched, found nothing).
which linux distribution?
well, i am a new guy to the penguin world. i want to start using a linux version because mainly, open source fascinates me..i’m just entering college now..i hav been using windows since my first grade…and a couple fo months ago, i bought a macbook pro 13..and from then on, i felt that unix(or linux) is the way to go..
this is my first shot at linux..and many have suggested that ubuntu is very good for beginners because of its huge community..i did a little research and i found out that even opensuse is also pretty good….
i have a 5 year old pc, which has 1 gig of memory with an integrated graphic memory of about 256 mb, and a pentium 4 2.26 ghz processor..
i wonder if ubuntu 10.4 can run with all the visual effects turned on..and how easy is opensuse…cuz i m willing to experiment…
and honestly i don’t want to run linux on my mac yet
..its just that i want to experiment first on my old pc…
and do all linux versions have support for printers and scanners? cuz i have a hp psc-1410 all in one…and my dad uses this pc only for scanning and all that…he’ll kill me if he’s not able to scan
….

any help would be appreciated
Could I stop using the GRUB loader on linux? (For an experienced linux user)?
I want to dual boot the full version of Linux, Fedora… with Windows 7 which is already installed, the problem is it comes with the GRUB loader, and that’s a problem because the last time I did that with Ubuntu, I was very unsatisfied with that installation of Ubuntu, and it was better from a live cd. I booted back into Windows and deleted the partition of Ubuntu, and didn’t touch the GRUB loader and the system crashed. I re-installed ubuntu but then windows didn’t work at all.
Now I wanna try Fedora and I tried it from a live USB (another install of ubuntu worked except flash player)… I wanna use Fedora but I don’t want to deal with all the GRUB krud again, the NT boot loader is better in my opinion…
Easiest Linux Distribution Similar To Windows?
I would like to try out Linux and am looking for a very easy version of Linux that:
1. Can work as a live CD.
2. Has a feel similar to windows, especially a “windows explorer” and the ability to temporarily save files to a “virtual c drive”.
Thank you
