Problem using linux on my laptop?

I’ve been trying to get linux to work on my laptop, that had windows vista pre-installed on it. I tried running ubuntu from the live cd, but it stayed stuck on the loading screen. Then I tried installing it using wubi, and after I rebooted, I got the same stuck loading screen. After 4 hours of waiting it out, it still didn’t get any further. So I downloaded fedora and tried to run it from a usb drive and cd, but both didn’t work either, I just got a black screen when trying to boot.
My laptop should be able to run it spec wise, it is only 2 months old. I’m using a MSI VX600.
I also tried out fedora and ubuntu my home pc, which has windows xp, and it worked fine. So it’s probably something with my laptop, but I wouldn’t know what…can anyone help me with this?

Well, I would like to start using Linux, but I do not want it permanently on my computer.

I head there’s a way you can have a “Live CD” and you just plop the CD into the computer and boot the computer from the cd, and there you have Linux, but if you don’t choose to boot it from the cd, it’s windows. So, my question is, is that true, if not, is there another way?

Removing Grub Bootloader?

Ok, so we have a Dell Optiplex running Ubuntu and Windows on two Hard Drives (XP on one, Linux on the Other) Well, it was working beautifully, well, me and my friend decided that we were gonna try to make our own linux using Linux From Scratch, well, that wiped the Hard Drive (the Linux one) so we gave up after having difficulties, well, now when we try to boot into windows, we get the Grub screen, and it says “GRUB Loading stage1.5.
“GRUB loading, please wait…..
Error 15
then nothing happens, we don’t have a Ubuntu live CD anymore, and i think i can get a windows recovery CD, we also have a USB stick running Slax Linux that we could use, how do we fix this problem?
I actually found a windows 98 recovery cd lying around and got it fixed using the fixmbr command, thanks though
