I cant move my mouse or type?

Recently, I when I was logged on, my mouse stopped working. Thinking nothing of it (I have a wireless keyboard/mouse), I unplugged the receiver, and tried to re-connect the keyboard/mouse. However, I still couldn’t move the mouse/keyboard. So I tried a corded keyboard/mouse (using PS2) and it still wouldn’t work. I’ve tried rebooting, and it still wont work (I’m using a different computer right now). However, I know that the keyboard/mouse/hardware isn’t defective because I was able to boot onto Ubuntu (Linux) via a live CD, and everything worked just fine (keyboard/mouse). Regardless, I still can’t get into Vista…I get stuck at the log-on screen (I’ve got a password, and safe mode doesn’t work). My only method of input is a media center remote (plugs into USB … but that only ‘types’ numbers (which do, however, appear). I’ve got absolutely no idea what to do.

booting Backtrack 2 from the cd drive?

So i downloaded the backtrack 2 iso file (i think its a live distro linux type program) and burned it to a cd. How do run it? I have heard you run it by booting your computer from the cd drive. How exactly do i go about this (simple instructions please)? i need directions for booting from the cd drive. I have windows xp an only about 400 mb of ram. Can i run backtrack 2 (600mb program) with this little ram?
i have an emachine if that helps tell what key to hit upon startup. and i have 384mb of ram to be exact

what type of linux would be best suggested?

i am wondering what linux version would be the best for me, i am a little bit of a nerd, i am a gamer, i love browsing the web and downloading videos, and i like to listen to music off of the web, and i want to have an ftp program of some sort. and i dont want to bog down on the processor any bit, i do not care for word prosesing or any hexediting programs, i want a music player and video player in it, and if this could all be bundled into a live cd that would be even better! but it doesnt have to.

thanks,
Cory

How do you change your screen size using a linux command?

I just figured out how to put knoppix live linux cd on my computer by booting from the cd, but Im having difficulty changing my screen size and its refreshing rate. I was wondering if anyone knew of any commands that i could type into the root shell that would either add more resolution options or be able to change the screen size.

when I try to configure the display I only have one option for the screen size which is 640 X 480. Is that any other way to get around that and add a screen sice like 1280 X 740 or something so everything isn’t so large on my screen?
