Making a Live Disc?

I want to make a live disc of a Linux operating system, so I downloaded the “ISO” of Ubuntu 7.10. After downloading I used “ISO Buster” to extract the files. Then wrote them on to a disc. But, when I tried to boot form the disc the computer goes ahead into my second boot option which is the hard drive, skipping the CD. I tried both the x86 and x64 versions. And even tried it on another computer nothing seems to help. Am I doing something wrong or is it just the disc?

Thanks.

How do i turn an inactive partition into active using linux?

okay i tried to install linux but forgot about the extra partition i need to make for the swap file.i wanted to dual boot xp and linux ubuntu.so when i tried to boot back into xp it said that there was a problem with the operating system (os) and im guessing its because i deactivated the partition where xp is located and set to active the linux one (i havent installed linux im stll on the live cd but dont want to install it until i make and extra partition for the swap file). so my question is how can i set active the partition where i have xp using the linux live cd. or do i need to install ubuntu and forget about the swap file?any help is appreciated

the question is about installing linux (ubuntu).there is a problem.?

when i boot the system it asks to me some installing ways i just select the option to run from cd (actually it is a live cd) it goes to some command like interfase and gives an error:- “failed to set up xfermode (error_mask=0×40)”. i couldn’t understand the problem plz help me to sort out the problem…….

Need help installing Linux Ubuntu on HP Vista Laptop?

I’m trying to set up a dual boot system on my HP pavilion dv6000 laptop running Windows Vista, but when I try to load the live CD, after i click “Run or install Ubuntu 7.10″ it prints out this list, then near the bottom it says something like “no such file or directory” about 4 to 6 times.
I obviously have “boot from cd” enabled, is there anything else? HELP?!?!?!
Yes, I have partitioned my hard drive, but it still doesn’t work. I’ll try that F6 thing but i dunno…
