ok o i went to turn my computer on and i guess it said just stays in the boot screen of windows xp and i tried re installing my windows xp from a cd and now when the installation is in progress it says no hard drive detected but wen i ran a copy of linux it recognized it and i could take all my data out of it by running a live cd so Im stuck and i need help.

I put in the ubuntu live CD, and it goes to the loading screen at the very beginning, and it’s taking forever, and I cant tell if it’s making any progress or not. how long should it take?
