How can I install Ubuntu along side Vista without affecting Vista? I have the Ubuntu live CD, Can anyone help?

So, I want to be able to choose to boot from Vista Premium or Ubuntu Linux. I can use the partition software on the live CD but don’t know which partition to install it on, I have an Advent laptop, is is suitable to do this?
I do not want to damage my Vista at all. I have 4 partition spaces and 2 have a windows logo on them, can i safely use a blank one (even though they dont have nearly enough room)
