Linux on Mac?

hi all, got a major problemo here, i ran a SUSE Linux live cd on a friend’s mac. it worked quite fine when i tried returning to the mac OS the system gave me the following message “Cannot find Bootable Device”, which is strange cos the Mac OS was running just fine befor i restarted the system for the Linux live cd. the only thing i know i did was direct the Mac to use the CD-ROM as the first bootable device, i did this within the OS itself, i guess that’s what’s giving me problems. please how do i reverse the process.
Mean while i want to install Linux on the Mac, will it affect the files on the system.

I use win 98 and xp and when system boots i get this message choose operating system to start and now i need to boot ububtu(linux) using live cd but how i do it?

Everytime i boot, my pc always show this message:”error loading OS”…. how can i fix this?

it happened before and it was resolved my reformating by pc via installing linux because i cant access my pc by windows setup alone /*and i dont know why..*/ please help me….

my original OS is windows….. and i dont have bi-OS /*if thats the term… */ i dont really know how but last time it worked… and here’s the odd thing… i can access my files by linux live cd… /*knoppix*/… i really dont want to reformat my pc…./*as much as possible cos i 4got 2 backup my files!!! im so stupid!!!!*/ my programming assignments are there 4 gods sake!!! huhu… help me…

What is wrong with this hard drive?

My computer restarted the other night and afterwards I got a “DISK BOOT ERROR PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRES ENTER” message. I loaded up a linux live cd and I’m able to access the hard drive and salvage my data but I am not able to format the drive. When I attempt to format it doesn’t start, then gives me an error message.

Cannot detect hard disk in linux ubuntu.?

Hi there, everything was running fine until yesterday when I started my PC and got a message “error loading operating system.”
I checked the BIOS settings and its detecting my hard disk.
I tried reinstalling windows but at the step where it asks to select the drive,there are no drives in the list.
Now I’m running Linux Ubuntu from the live CD. (I’m running it from the cd cause I cannot install it as I can’t detect my hard disk).
Can anyone tell me what can I do ? Is there any way I can do this on my own ? Any way to access and repair the hard disk from Linux ? Or any boot options or anything ?
