I’m looking to experiment with KDE, I’ve used Gnome distros up until this point. I’ve read multiple reviews and forum articles talking about KDE 4 still being unstable, but also have seen Pardus, Linux Mint 8 KDE, and Mandriva 2010 singled out as strong releases dealing with this issue. Any Linux users who could address the (supposed) KDE 4 instablitity issues/recommend a distro would be welcome. I’m looking to install this along side my main Mint 8 distro, not just play around with it as a Live CD experience, so any help narrowing the field without culling through 10-15 distros would be very helpful.
PS: My system is a modern one, with plenty of RAM and a 3.0 Ghz processor, so it’s more than enough to handle the resource demands of KDE 4.

I would like to use my old copy of windows XP, but it won’t load on my newer laptop nomatter how I tweek my BIOS. I love the quick boot and simplicity of PUPPY LINUX, but it won’t connect wirelessly to my AIRPORT EXTREME. I tried MANDRIVA, it’s nice to look at but it’s too big and it’s too slow to boot and shut down. I’m currently trying KNOPPIX, but it didn’t boot. Besides, it’s a large file like MANDRIVA and I expect it’ll be just as slow, but I’ll try again Does anyone know of any quick boot PUPPY LINUX type of live cd’s?

My computer is pretty old. It has a 37GB Hard Drive, 512Mb RAM, and an AMD Athlon XP2500 519MHz CPU. I am running windows XP right now and have used up about half of the Hard Drive. I have burned several Linux Live CD distros and they were all pretty slow. I tried DSL and Puppy Linux but I didn’t like them. I want to try and partition my hard drive and do a dual boot. What linux distro would run well on my laptop? Ubuntu? Fedora? Mandriva? Or any other distro?
