How can I get a Windows XP cd bootable?..it’s because I’ve accidentally erased the operative system trying to deleting Linux and it looks like the only way to get back my files…somebody help me please. I’m lost. My HD is “encrypted” cause the login password and it has very very important information. It will be always important u know. I’ve already used a Knoppik cd bootable. I can open information by this way but cannot extract the information… Thanks u all readers..

Have the open SuSE Linux distros, both the KDE and the GNOME versions of 11.1
I boot from the CD, it loads everything(in text mode), then asks for a login and password, both of which are not listed on the website, and no amount of tinkering will let me in – whatever I try, the result is: “Login incorrect.” – this just goes on like this forever, no matter what I try or what combination of obvious words(or no words at all).
Does anyone know what the password is for the SuSE live CD’s?
I never get to the GUI, and I am never asked to enter a username or password before this prompt.
It’s a pretty crap thing to do, to make available iso’s of an OS(any OS), which require passwords that are not provided or displayed prominently on the download page…
Not impressed really, and it has almost put me off this distro just because of this annoyance. It is the same problem no matter weather I try to use the KDE or the GNOME live CD – blocked at every turn by a stupid request for an unknown login and password. *sigh*

Hi – Thanks, but leaving the details blank, the system then reports(after 60 seconds): “Login timeout.” and then it goes back to asking again. If I press [ENTER] twice at the login and password prompt, I still get the login incorrect response.
i was told to make a linux live cd to get my mothers computer to start up, because something is wrong with her “windows” os, and it wont let me access her files. ive tried manymanymany live linux cd’s, but nothing is working, i keep getting boot errors, or itll ask me for “linux login id & password” and i have no clue what to put. if someone could help me get my mom’s computer working so i can retrieve those files, itll really be a great gift. thanks everyone

i downloaded a live image of fedora 9 from their website and burned the image to a cd. i booted off of the cd and linux went through a lot of tests and whatnot. well now i have a local host login. i never set a username and password. i tried my windows password and random words. is there a default password or a way around this? thanks!!

im trying to install opensuse on a pc with no os on the first screen [booting from live cd ] i hit enter on opensuse 10.3 after loading the screen went to a black text based screen that said welcome to open suse 10.3. underneath it says “linux login” and waits for input how do I install suse from here? [please be specific i have no idea what im doing ive never used linux B4 ]
