Could I stop using the GRUB loader on linux? (For an experienced linux user)?

I want to dual boot the full version of Linux, Fedora… with Windows 7 which is already installed, the problem is it comes with the GRUB loader, and that’s a problem because the last time I did that with Ubuntu, I was very unsatisfied with that installation of Ubuntu, and it was better from a live cd. I booted back into Windows and deleted the partition of Ubuntu, and didn’t touch the GRUB loader and the system crashed. I re-installed ubuntu but then windows didn’t work at all.

Now I wanna try Fedora and I tried it from a live USB (another install of ubuntu worked except flash player)… I wanna use Fedora but I don’t want to deal with all the GRUB krud again, the NT boot loader is better in my opinion…

grub linux loader question?

I installed Mint Linux 9 yesterday on my computer, and when I restarted my computer it won’t start. It says

error: out of disk
grub rescue>_

Others said that I should type in fdisk -l and tell them what it says. It doesn’t say anything.
When I type fdisk -l, it doesn’t print anything on the screen.
When I type fdisk /dev/hda0 it doesn’t print anything either.
It seems that linux doesn’t recognize my hard drive, but that’s not true, because it did install itself on my hard drive. So, it should recognize my hard drive. Apparently the live cd is working fine, but the installation on my hard drive doesn’t want to start.

How to remove the GRUB loader from my computer?

I have an HP dv7 laptop that came with vista ultimate 64-bit preinstalled, which I want to keep. I recently used an Ubuntu LIVE disk to make a partition for Ubuntu, because I needed linux to run a certain program. I got it all installed perfectly, but then I realized that my wireless card on my laptop wasn’t compatible with Ubuntu, so I removed the Ubuntu partition. Now I have only a 295 GB (formerly 285 GB, because I deleted the pretty much useless recovery partition) vista partition, which is what I want. However, when I turn on my laptop, it goes into the GRUB boot loader and says there’s an error, so it is unable to boot vista. I read some articles about how to fix it with a vista recovery CD, but unfortunately, I don’t have one.

I was wondering if anybody knows a way to either completely remove GRUB through windows, bios, etc. or how to set it to automatically boot into vista….maybe a code i can type into the GRUB loader or something? Please help.

Thanks so much to anybody who has something to contribute!

How To Install Puppy Linux To Hard Drive?

Hi everyone. I have a C drive which I partitioned in Windows to show up as two hard drives. It shows up as C and F. I am using the Puppy Live cd right now and how can I install Puppy to the hard drive so that when I want to use Puppy I don’t have to use the cd? I have tried installing to the hard drive but the boot loader never loads when installed. I don’t even know if I installed a boot loader and I don’t know how. Please help me.

How do I dual boot Ubuntu 8.10 on a macbook using bootcamp? ?

I made a partition using bootcamp and I booted the ubuntu 8.10 live cd. When I get to the partition part in the installation, it says it might delete the windows boot loader. Does linux think that this is the windows boot loader but it actually is the mac boot loader or am I doing everything right?
