My laptop won’t start up… I turn it on then it says “NTLDR is missing press ctlr+alt+del to restart then I”.

and thats all it will do the same thing over and over ctlr+alt+del.to restart..can’t get pass that..even with the disk it’s same thing when i put that in to…..it’s a toshiba m40/m45

i want to get my laptop wiped and start all over again without viruses and stuff, but it deletes everything, so i need a hardrive thing to save all my stuff to. i have a windows xp laptop, 2 years old. what do i get? what do i need? what’s it called?

I’ve recently thought about installing this on my brothers laptop because Vista takes up too much of his memory. My question(s) are How easy is it to use? How easy is it to setup? And do I have to un-install Vista to use it? And how compatible is it with other programs, most being video games? Thanks!

How can i install it so when i start up the computer, it gives me the choice of which OS to boot?

and which version of linux is best? I hear theres lots of versions.

also, if i install it, can what i mentioned be done in an external hard drive and still work as if it were my internal hard drive?
Its ok if it doesnt work that way, im just curious about this since i have a large external hard drive .
so i dont have to have a live cd in order to have dual boot?
