Hi I’ve recently downloaded a 7.10 version of the Ubuntu. I burned the ~700 MB of ISO file to a CD. Is that right, the CD only contains 1 file –> the ISO file.
So I don’t have to do anything with the single file?
The problem is that it doesn’t boot from CD-ROM when I restart my Laptop (Compaq Presario). I did change the Boot Order from my BIOS. Where could i have gone wrong? Please help! thanks!
I have got the .iso file of Damn Small Linux-N. I am currently using Windows XP and want to try it out. How should I go about using DSL-N from here I have no idea. Please explain in simple steps. I’ve heard that it runs from a pen-drive but how? Web search has been of no use as I am very very new to Linux. What is a Live CD and how to create it???

ok i have decided to try out linux, i downloded a live cd distribution, burned the iso file to a cd and tried to boot from it wont work! please tell me what i am doing wrong, and tell me how to do it correctly plz!

haha jk but NOW THAT I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION IN NEED HELP WITH LINUX ok i burned the iso file onto a cd, it is bootable, i have made the cdrom drive the first one in the boot order in the BIOS, and it will not run linux when i try to boot from the cd! evertime it brings up an error saying: “Cannot load DOS! press any key to retry” what should i do!?
i have used about 15 different cds 2 dvds and 3 different live cd distros of linux i need help

i havent tried it in another computer to see if it is bootable, but when i restart the computer it reads the disc like it is going to boot from it but then brings up the error
and yes the program i used said burin .iso to disc and that is the one i clicked
