Basicaly my question is if I boot Linux from a live cd (Ubuntu) could I download a file from bittorent onto my hardrive so i could access it from windows. If so tell me how. My laptop can’t use ethernet so I have to boot linux from a cd to use the internet. Please help. But if you could find me a drive so I could use ethernet connections that would be good too.
oh sorry I forgot to write model.lol. i have a dell 600m. Believe me I’ve tried but im not good when it come to downloading drivers.

the hardrive has no partitions at all. im using the regular pc version

Im going to have my old hardrive from my old computer for my new built pc. Then i wanted to install linux with a linux live ubuntu cd. My question is that the hardrive has all my other drivers from my other pc saved on it, right? So then I need to reformat it and delete everything on that harddrive. Is there any way I could do this while Im installing ubuntu. Im trying to be really careful in not screwing up my pc idea. thanks in advance!

im having a problem with linux that makes no since to me. it has to do with the sta broadcom wireless drivers. ok if i run ubuntu from the live cd the propietary drivers are detected and i am propted to install them. however if i install ubuntu compleatly to the hardrive it cant detect these drivers. this makes no since to me. why would it work on the live cd but not work if you install the entire thing. i dont get it. the drivers are thare. i went through the files on the cd and found them. they are thare how can i get the system to detect these? i dont understand why it would work on the live cd but not work on a full installation. i dont understand. these drivers are compatible i have installed them before on previous releases of ubuntu. and the current equivalent of linux mint. its the same driver and it works. i just dont understand why its not working on a full install oppased to just a live cd. can anybody help?
