How do I fix the MBR on my computer from within windows?

I recently uninstalled a version of linux from my laptop by deleting it’s partition from my hard drive. Now I need to restore the MBR because rebooting my laptop now will result in not being able to load any OS (I’ve done this before). What software can I use to fix the Master boot record (MBR) from within Windows Vista? I really don’t want to use a Live CD but I will as a completely last resort. Thank you.

P.S.: I can’t turn off my laptop until I do so please help!!!
I meant from WITHIN Windows. How come I can fix the mbr from a linux live cd (well not really fix, but change) but I can’t do it from within Windows?
Also I don’t have the install CDs for Vista. I got it new so it only comes with the system recovery discs. Please help!

How to make surveillance of my room with webcam and live Linux CD(no hard drive)?

The idea is to watch my room or other part of my house by simply logon to a personal webpage when outside or out of the country.
The ideal would be a sort of gadget that even monitor temperature, humidity, image and stream all data online to be retrieve remotely in a different location.

How do I install Linux on a dell notebook/laptop that is currently running Windows XP?

I’ve been running windows xp alone on my notebook for the last two years. I know almost nothing about linux but I want to give it a shot. I downloaded the unbuntu live cd and used gparted to create two partitions on the hard drive. (there are two other tiny partitions on the hard drive that linux lists but windows doesn’t).

Currently the two smaller (hidden) partitions are formatted FAT and FAT32, the two larger partitions are both formatted NTFS.

What do I need to do to install ubuntu, or any other gnu/linux distro onto one of the partitions, without effecting windows on the other partition? Will I also need to install an additional boot manager?
thanks I d I realized that my problem was just that I should have left one partition unformatted until I installed ubuntu. I deleted the empty partition and used “guided install (largest available free space)” to install ubuntu, worked well, simple and automatic…now if I can just get my network card to work.

Hard Drive PROBLEM!?

OK my laptop hasn’t been working for a few months now for unknown reasons. But the bottom line is: i try to reformat and stuff but it says no hard drive found so it can’t reformat. =/ If you’re wondering what happens when i boot my laptop, when I turn it on, it doesn’t go to the windows screen (where windows XP is loading) it just stays black with a white dashed line blinking int he corner. However, I am able to boot up a linux Live CD (backtrack 2 and knoppix both work) and able to go online and stuff with them. So i dunno is my hard drive broken? or still working in a way? any ideas?
