I bought an old machine from a yard sale for $5. Unfortunately, the guy who I’d bought it from’s company had wiped the hard disk in some way and had left the physical hard drive clanging around in the case, unattached to anything.
So I re-attach the hard drive in the right places and screw it into the case. I got it booting into Win XP install mode, but it wanted me to insert an install CD. I didn’t have one at the time (and still don’t) so I installed Ubuntu from a Live CD.
However, my question doesn’t require knowledge of Linux or Ubuntu… I just want to know if I can somehow get a copy of Windows XP and install it into Virtualbox.
Think of it this way. I have a product key, but no CD. How can I obtain a copy of Windows XP Home Edition without having to buy another product key?
