Can’t install xp (expert help only)?

I’ll start up by stating the situation.
On a new (3 month old) packard bell imedia 5020 i had two partitions. The first one being ubuntu feisty , the second one being vista home premium. I loved both. Because i screwed up ubuntu I booted into vista. Installed acronis boot manager, formatted the first partion to ntfs and rebooted. Grub bootmanager gave me error 22 (logical, since I deleted ubuntu ) I usually use super grub disk to repair windows mbr. However i was unable to boot any cd’s (yes the bios was set up to boot from cd and i used f8 and choose cd to boot more than once). No cd’s would boot (including ubuntu feisty, linux mint cassandra, plos2007, gparted live cd, super grub disk, xp).
I then installed another cd-rom from an old computer. This time instead of ignoring the cd and going straight to the hard drive thus giving grub error 22), the screen remains black. When i pull out the cd, the hard drive loads and gives the grub error.
… more to come
However, xp home will load. When i need to choose a partition, i choose and it says the partition isn’t xp compatible. I found something on a forum here:

But i don’t understand the guys solution. And i only have one hard drive.
Any help guys?

toshiba M105-3041?

I have a Toshiba M105-3041, which has 512mb of memory, 80gb hard drive, Intel Centrino, and it is not booting up…I am a computer expert myself, and I have beating my head away trying to figure this out, but I keep thinking that it could be something else. I get a blue screen when booting up Vista Basic, so what I did was I pressed f8 and told the pc to start up and not restart after it fails, the blue screen read, that it was not able to write to the memory because of an I/O error. This is my diagnosis, I think that it is the memory stick, I dont think its the right kind, I mean I ran a live cd of linux and it worked perfectly with no flaws, when I opened the memory bay, it had no memory, so I got some memory from another laptop that had roughly the same speed and that was very similar and used that, but it will not boot up windows xp or vista. What do you think is wrong? I think that its because its the wrong memory.

If winxp crashes or anyhow I am not able to access it can i recover data using ubuntu live cd? If yes how ?

please tell me step by step .. i m not an expert of linux
…thanks in advance
