How do I edit my Linux partion on Windows?

I’m dual booting Ubuntu 7.10 and I just reinstalled Windows XP. GRUB is gone, so it only lets me boot into XP. It also won’t let me view my linux partion on XP, just the windows partion. when I boot the live CD, I can still see all my files, but I can’t edit them because I don’t have permissions. any help?

Dual booting Linux Mint and Vista (Vista installed first)?

When I get to the partitioning step of Felicia (from the Live CD), it just says “no root file system defined” or something, obviously I need to set the mount point of (in my case /dev/sda2) and set it to mount point “/”.

My question is how do I do that? There is no option to change the mount point, when i mount it in Computer, it just auto mounts to /Media/disk.

Here is a picture of my gParted, http://img26.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gpart.png

btw i cannot format the whole drive because /dev/sda1 has windows and my files on it.

Help!
the apc guide was the first thing i tried, dont be cheap trying to score two point by stating the obvious. and also that guide is designed for Ubuntu not Mint, even though Mint is based on Ubuntu it is slightly different.
maybe i need to do something in terminal?

bootloader? dual booting linux?

right…
i use linux and had ubuntu install and i needed windows for stuff so i got windows 7 and partitoned my harddrive. all went fine then installed windows 7 fine as well…then booted up using a live ubuntu cd to put the GRUB boot loader on as windows does’nt see my linux partition anyway so i booted up into the live cd and opened terminal

typed sudo grub
root (hd0,0)
then
setup (hd0,0)
and it saw that i had grub on my linux partiotion but it didnt enable it.
and when i rebooted it booted in windows useing windows boot manager :(

how can i now make it so i can boot back into my linux partition like i want to?

i have vista installed, and I am trying to install linux so i can duel boot vista and Ubuntu. When im using the disk partitioner on the ubuntu live cd, it tells me I don’t have enough space (I clearly do though)
anyone have this problem?

Linux (Ubuntu) question, dual booting?

Hello, I’ve been playing around with Ubuntu for a bit from the live cd and want to dual boot it with XP. If I use the guided option on the installer it says there’s not enough space for a partition or something. If I go into manual it says there’s 8MB free space and the rest (39999MB) is ‘unknown’. I know there is at least 25 GB free space on the hard drive. Any ideas for how to solve this? (Ubuntu version is Hardy Heron). Thanks
