Can I dual boot windows 98 and ubuntu on the same hard drive?

My main computer has windows 98 on it. I want to try linux ubuntu on the same computer but don’t want to get rid of windows 98 which I know works properly with my wireless internet and all. So I want to make it so it could dual boot either to ubuntu or to windows. I know that I need to partition my hard drive, but how do I do it?

How can i dual boot windows and linux?

i burned unbuntu in a CD and at the beginining it says
start or install
start in safe graphics mode
boot from harddisk (or something)

i dont want to delete windows by accident
and also how long does it take in general to boot it (as a live CD) because i pressed start and after 10 minutes i was worried it wasnt working so i turned it off

How do you fix a FAT32 hard disk partition which Windows XP won’t read, but every other OS will?

I have a 60GB FAT32 harddisk partition on a dual boot (Windows XP/Win98) PC. It has worked fine for 2 years. Now, following an improper shutdown and the resulting WinXP ‘checking disks for errors’ screen on startup, Windows XP can’t even read the volume name and asks if I want to format the drive when I try to open it. Properties dialog shows Filesystem: RAW. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the partition as far as Windows 98 is concerned (verifies fine with scandisk), and Linux Live CDs such as SLAX also open the partition with no trouble. There is nothing wrong with the physical disk or XP drivers, since other partitions on the drive are fine even from XP. Is there any way to ‘fix’ the disc, i.e. persuade XP that it is fine, short of backing up everything and reformatting (not easy since I don’t have any large HDDs to hand so I’d have to use a stack of DVDs).

Ubuntu Dual-Boot Windows 7?

Ok so i just got my Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop LTS in the mail. i am using the live cd so it is basically a dual boot. but when i get into ubuntu, it says for my ethernet and wireless that it is disconnected. One time when it booted, it said for the wireless that the device was not ready. i have read around and apparently windows is screwing with my Linux. Is there a way around this crap without uninstalling windows? P.S. I have used ndisgtk.
