booting Backtrack 2 from the cd drive?

So i downloaded the backtrack 2 iso file (i think its a live distro linux type program) and burned it to a cd. How do run it? I have heard you run it by booting your computer from the cd drive. How exactly do i go about this (simple instructions please)? i need directions for booting from the cd drive. I have windows xp an only about 400 mb of ram. Can i run backtrack 2 (600mb program) with this little ram?
i have an emachine if that helps tell what key to hit upon startup. and i have 384mb of ram to be exact

Need a Linux distro to boot off & have filesystem on my USB Pendrive.?

Ok, well I know a lot of Linux distributions that can BOOT of USB pendrives, but they all create RAM disks that get erased/reset once you reboot the system. If I wanted that, I’d just carry a Live-CD around with me. I want a Linux distro that will store everything, the /etc, /home, the WHOLE system ON the pendrive itself so that I can reboot and all my stuff will still be there. Anyone know how I can achieve this? I’ve tried Damn Small Linux but it just creates a ramdisk, and I lose all my work upon reboot.

Can’t run ubuntu so whats anther good linux disro?/?

Ok i tried to run ubuntu linux and for some reason my system dont want to run it all I get is a bunch of tuff ont he bottom of a black screen. I tried to run pclinuz os live cd and when I hit the start using live cd it acted liek it would oad and then just came back to the screen. I also tried xubuntu and kubutu and the smae thing happeed like it did with ubuntu, So my question is which distro for linux should I try next Can anyone help me fine a linux that will run on this kinda computer. install another linux distro through a different linux?

can you do that? like you can update and upgrade it, but is it possible to upgrade into a different linux distribution? i have ubuntu, i heard fedora core 6 is better. so can i install it through ubuntu instead of using a live cd? thank you, any help is greatly appreciated ;)

AUSTRUMI LIVE CD creation?

i downloaded the iso image of Austrumi linux distro{50 MB} and burnt it on a blank CD using NEro. BUTit is not booting up, even after setting up CD rom as the first boot option what sholud i do?
