What are the names of the diffferent versions of linux? such as debian, ubuntu,……and what else?

what are the names of the other versions? which one is better to run as a live cd? can they be runned on a usb disk drive instead of a cd…..like a live usb disk drive instead of live cd…

Install OS’s (.iso) from USB?

Hello I am going to install Debian Linux on my computer but I want to do it from a USB drive rather than a CD-ROM. How can I do it. Drive is 2GB Kingston Data Traveler, and my computer can boot from USB’s. I am running windows XP and I have a live CD of Ubuntu 7.10 with no internet working on it.

Live CD with SD card?

I have a live cd with debian linux, and an SD card. Can I boot up with the live cd and use the SD card as an external hard drive?

Linux help ?

i cant get Linux Ubuntu or Debian to install on virtual pc. it will either load the live cd and then the mouse and keyboard stop working. and if it try to install ant the menu it wont install it freezes at th keyboard. any help would be fine
