I need help with the sound on my computer?

Ok i was going through the Add or Remove programs list on the Control Panel and I deleted this thing called Sound Max bc it said i rarely used it…. Now none of my sound works… when i click on volume control it says there are no mixer devices available.. Is there any way I can get the sound back without paying any money??? Someone please help me

Linux Live CD Needed?

Okay, I know pretty much nothing about linux, but for ventrilo and the open source control panel for ventrilo to work, I need linux. My probelm is I have an old laptop (BIOS date is 1999) that I’m going to run linux on and it only has 127 mb of ram. I need a Linux distribution that is i386 that I can run as a LiveCD to do this.

By the way, I tried Ubuntu and it won’t work on my old laptop (doesn’t meet 2000 bios cutoff) and SLAX doesn’t work either.

If I need to, I can wipe my hard drive of Windows XP Pro and put the linux os on there instead, but I need to know if its a good, reliable linux os that I can use with the internet before I loose everything.

recover gpt protective partition?

I added an ntfs partition to my external hard drive from a puplinux live cd, and then I added some files to the original partition (which i have been using for months) on my mac system, and now windows xp doesn’t display the drive in control panel, and in the drive management menu it identifies the drive as entirely a GPT protective partition. I can still use the drive normally in os x and linux. I tried deleting the new partition, which didn’t seem to help.

Is there anyway I can get my drive to work in xp again without data loss?
