I want to base my computer on linux – ubuntu 7.10, but i have programs that can only be used by windows, is there a way to install windows on a flash drive, or have a windows live cd? or do i have to just dual OS my computer?

ubuntu linux install problem?
Well, I put in the Ubuntu 7.10 CD. I did all the partitioning and installing. Then it prompted for me to reboot. So I press ‘restart’, and I take the live CD out and push the CD drive back in. I see the ubuntu screen, and the orange bar starts diminishing and getting smaller. But then, it just freezes there. The computer won’t reboot and the ubuntu screen just freezes.
Help! What should I do? It’s been frozen for about half an hour now…

when i try to boot my computer/binary coding 0s and 1s?
when i try bootiong my other computer it says 0 and 1 sort of like this l 010101010110011100011000011100011
but its not that exact its about 4 lines of binary long i think i lost my bootloader and if im right how do i get it back can i downlaod a cd that has a bootloader on it that i can put on my computer eaven when i try puting my windowsxp cd in it says
boot from atapi cd:
no emulation
press any key to boot from cd . . . .
then the binary comes
l 010101010101010010010101010101010
but if i put any linux live cd in it works i would switch to linux if i could use my wirlees usb internet card on it but i cant

dont say dumb things like u got the blue screen of death i know alot about computers im actuly a programewr i just dont know binary so dont act like im a idiot and the cd wont boot!!!!!!!!! sdo i cant instal it da its a black screen to not a blue one the blue one is when the cd works and doesnt show binar coding
If i install gentoo linux 2007.0 on a computer will i be able to enter an administrator password then?
if not, then i what is the password so i can access things administrator can do like add users and stuff. I use the live cd right now.
can someone find me the password on the website because i couldn’t find it

What and how do I install Linux on my old Gateway solo 2500 laptop?
I have an old laptop, it has no cds with it besides a “boot directory” floppy disk. When I turn on the laptop to boot from whatever is on that floppy, it say “loading windows 95″ then it says “no operating system found”. So I’m guessing I better try a different OS on the old lappy. So, I want to install linux, not just a live run version, full install, but 1.) What version of Linux would install onto the computer and 2.) How would I partition my hard drive if I can’t get into windows? All I’m at when i turn on the computer is the bios settings. BTW, only reason I’m doing this is to win a bet with a friend. I wouldn’t trade my Dell XPS for anything.
