How do I crack a WEP key using a Belkin F5D8053 V3 Wireless N USB Adapter?

First of all, I have written permission from my neighbor whom I’ve known for many years to try this for educational purposes. This adapter uses the Ralink RT2870 chipset. I am using a Kubuntu Live CD to dual boot between Windows XP and Kubuntu because I know this adapter cannot crack a WEP key using Windows XP(to my knowledge). However I can’t even get the driver for the adapter installed let alone get anything cracked. I have done some extensive googleing on the topic but have not had much luck. I am willing to try other Linux distros. Can anyone help me out? It would be greatly appreciated.

Is it ok to leave a live CD running?

I don’t want to turn of an hp laptop with1gb memory hooked up to an ac adapter, since it has no hard drive and must run from a live CD, and i already have the configuration I want (in case you’re wondering, it’s Linux Mint Daryna). But I don’t know if overheating would be cause for alarm. I’m not talking about a few hours. I’m talking about a few days (maybe tonight, tomorrow, tomorrow night, and maybe the next day). But if it’s a bad idea to even leave it running overnight, then I kind of don’t want to to do that.
