It most likely will void your warrenty unless you make it a dual boot or something to that effect.

It will not void the warranty. You will no longer have customer service type support from your manufacture. Try http://www.ubuntu.com or http://www.opensuse.org

Spend a nickle and call Dell and ask the people that know. Any answer you get here could be wrong and it will not bother them any, it is not their computer.

Well to be honest you will not void your warranty. The warranty will be voided if you open the machine or use non Dell parts. Using a different OS will not cause a loss of warranty.
