I plan on purchasing a dell inspiron 1525 and want to put fedora 9 on it. I have a live cd for fedora. I want to know what the best way to remove the windows OS without removing any of the drivers I might need to run the laptop (ie. keyboard, disk drive and any other if they exist) and if by doing this I void the warranty. Im pretty sure that im not voiding the warranty because the warrentys general cover hardware issuese not software right? I don’t have this laptop in my possesion at this time.
It most likely will void your warrenty unless you make it a dual boot or something to that effect.

It will not void the warranty. You will no longer have customer service type support from your manufacture. Try http://www.ubuntu.com or http://www.opensuse.org

Spend a nickle and call Dell and ask the people that know. Any answer you get here could be wrong and it will not bother them any, it is not their computer.

Well to be honest you will not void your warranty. The warranty will be voided if you open the machine or use non Dell parts. Using a different OS will not cause a loss of warranty.
P.S. Micheal and anyone else that may use crossloop you can not post your link until level 2. I got flagged for it when I first got on !Answers.
I have a Dell D630 running dual boot of Ubuntu and Solaris.
