    What do you mean “in ISO format”. If you create a CD from the ISO (which is different from copying an ISO to the CD), you can boot from the CD even if the hard drive is totally blank.

    You can also boot from a USB key, but having an ISO file on the hard drive will not work as that is not bootable.
