  1. Your ram may be in and making contact with the leads but it may not be secure you might want to check and make sure of that if that dont work try going into the bios and turning off the ram allarm if that dont work it may be a problem with the sound drivers or the sould hardware you might try updating them.

  2. “it does not come from the tower” Your computer is not making funny noises if the noises are not coming from the tower!

  3. To be honest chances that this is software, or malware related are small.

Since you said you put the computer back together, than their is the possibility that a loose or missing screw is causing vibrations, and then the noise you hear.

Also likely, since the noise is only heard when running off windows, and not when running on Live CDs (which only utilize ram space), is that your hard drive is beginning to fail. When this happens their is a sound that is hard to describe, but it kind of sounds like a robot thinking? HAHA, I know that doesnt make sense, but its a wierd sound. Another possible sound is small crashing type sounds, caused by the drive spinning.

    Hope this helps you out.

  4. Like Jon said,

its probably the hard drive, I know that when I defrag my old hard drive it makes a racket because its in use so much (its not my primary drive so it wont be making a noise all the time)
