Why do I have problems installing Ubuntu Linux?

Everytime I try to run the Ubuntu Linux Live CD, the CD freezes. Does anybody happen to know why? I did a disk check, to see if the disk was bad and it said it wasn’t.
I don’t start the CD when I am running Windows. I ALWAYS boot from the CD. I don’t think I can install Ubuntu from Windows.

    Try booting to the CD, instead of running it from within Windows.
