Live USB Pros:
-Much faster
-USB drives are rewritable
-You can save your changes with some distros like Slax or Puppy Linux
Live USB cons:
-Not all computers can boot from USB
Live CD Pros:
-Will boot on pretty much any computer with a cd drive
Live CD Cons:
-Slower
-Can’t save changes (Well, not usually. Puppy Linux has this cool feature where it can save changes to a multi-session cd)
-You can only burn the cd once (Unless it’s a CD-RW)

I have not spent that much time with the LiveUSB method. However I am a big fan of the LiveCD/DVD.
I spend much of my time creating custom LiveDVD’s using a piece of software called Remastersys and they run just great, for me at least.
