Whats the best linux live cd for me?

Well the computer is a P4, 512 ram, and its around 3ghz. Ive tried ubuntu, linux mint, and they run but pretty slow. I dont want damn small linux cause i tried that and the mouse is really weird on it. Any other suggestions? I want it to run smooth from the live cd.

  2. the Live CD will always run slow, unless yuo go for the oldest version, even the newest versions are simple (Ubuntu)

    With only 512 MB of RAM, you need a more lightweight live CD.

    Really, though, if you want a full-blown distro like Ubuntu/Linux Mint, you should either upgrade your RAM or do a proper installation (don’t just run it as a live session).

    1. All Live CDs run slower than the OS being installed on the hard drive because running the Live CD uses all the RAM as both RAM and Swap memmory. You might look into installing more RAM. You can never have too much RAM! LOL!

    If the Live CD will run with any speed at all then the OS will run faster and smoother once installed on the hard drive.

    #2. I also have an older machine with similar specs to yours. I found that PCLinuxOS runs much, MUCH better than any of the more popular *buntus including Mint, which is based on Ubuntu. Check out PCLOS here:
