  1. Most of the Linux liveCD distributions (distros) are meant to to be used for trying out or demoing Linux before installing them to your hard drive. Popular distros like Ubuntu, Mepis, and PCLinuxOS are good examples and in my mind are some of the best offerings.

There are many Linux liveCD distros that are not really meant for installation to a hard disk. They can be booted from CD or USB and used as your everyday desktop. They are easy to update, are portable, work on older hardware, are very secure and are great fun.

How to use it? Simple answer. First make sure that your computer will boot from CD (check in BIOS). Put your live linux disk in the CD drive and … restart the computer.
Wow! The magic of linux. A full blown operating system running without being installed on the hard-disk…
Had enough linux for today? Just shutdown, eject the CD and go back to micro…whatever ;-)

    Good luck and have fun!

  2. Put the CD in your computer then restart your computer. You have to make sure that your computer boots from CD. If it doesn’t boot from CD, check your BIOS settings. If you need more info, post additional details of your query here and I’ll check it out.
