By the way, if it asks you whether you have a “New World” mac, then yes, you do.
If I remember correctly, the boot manager that you want is YaBoot.
Also, make sure you don’t destroy your current mac partitions. It will be nice if you resize your mac partition first, and leave some empty space, or just add another partition for linux outright. Panther tends to make a bunch of tiny partitions, when I did the first install of linux, I had around 4 or 5 of them, even though I had created only “one” partition in mac os x. So be careful…
Then when linux installer asks for a partition, select the one based on the GB size, not based on the device id (which you could get wrong).
If you can, backup before you do anything.
