I want to learn more about Linux and the different distros before I try to dual boot or anything of the sort. I tried live cds, but you can’t learn much from those, as you can’t save anything and download anything without having to keep resetting an internet connection. I tried running Linux through Windows Virtual PC 2007 and 2004, but neither of them work. I’ve heard of VMware, but which one do you download? I’ve also heard of Virtual Box and am considering trying it.
So which download is the right one?

Just use Virtualbox. Its pretty similar to Microsoft Virtual PC, and Ubuntu works great on it. Just go to the website and install it and your ready to go. You can mount the ISO under devices, CD rom.
