FreeDOS is not a GNU/linux distro, Just to point that out.

No it’s an Open Source DOS … I know that
There’s 5 Linux distros on here … Slax , Finnix , Puppy Linux , Damn Small Linux and System Rescue … FreeDOS is thrown in there also . As a bonus !!!

Don’t you mean Linux distro? GNU/Linux sounds like an unfair name.
Report Spam/Abuse
the term GNU/linux credits the GNU project project, because linux is just a kernel, and their needs to be a whole system for the kernel to run. And that system is GNU, so just saying “linux distro” is basically saying that linux is an operating system, when it really isn’t.

GNU contributed so little to the average Linux distro. I don’t see the point of tagging GNU on to Linux. We don’t tag MIT on to Linux and MIT had a much greater contribution to the modern Linux desktop.

Well the kernel that was originally made BY the GNU community was not mature enough to be used at the start of GNU . So the Linux kernel was used instead . That’s how the whole GNU/Linux merger started .

except GNU is not required, but the kernel is. Linus wins.

Hello,
I downloaded it this file as an ISO and burnt it as such. Re started my puter and it did not boot up. I tried different things and it does not start. What do you think is wrong. Thank you.

It could be that you burned the iso at a speed that was too fast or you have to set your bios boot order to boot from cd first . Good luck ^_-

I had the same thing happen to me. Guess I’ll try again.
