I am a complete linux noob and am trying to run the live cd but it will not work because there is a xserver error and then there is a bunch of junk going on so does anyone know how to fix this?
The bunch of junk is a status report but it is all jumbled up and in different spots

2. Ur not specific as to what the ‘bunch of junk’ says, that a Linux Guru would actually know about! That is a trouble report, actually!
3. Probably doesn’t need to be ‘fixed’, just needs to be interpreted to select the correct answer, of all the answers embedded in the ‘bunch of junk’
You see, Linux boots and loads and gets up into at least the bash shell, so, a knowledgeable person could patch the small error and continue on to Xwindows environment.
Whenever there is a memory or hard drive error, or a video card problem, the ‘bunch of junk’ is all about a report of lthe trouble, so we can address the trouble and resolve it.
You will see that this is extremely rare, to get the shell. I see it in Macs, BSD, Linux but, I fix 20 to 30 units each week, and I install about 1200 student, school, corporate, systems each year, and I see it about twice a week. Most times, it is a full hard drive, or partition, or a defective memory chip.
Also, you could try a different version of GNU/Linux LiveCDrom, as there are over 300! My preferences:
