I’ve read that it is a good idea to use them for online banking and other transactions over the computer, so I was planning on giving it a try. Anyhow, before I do I had a few questions.
If I did have a virus or keylogger on my computer (Windows 7) could a Windows virus infect the Linux Live CD? Also, if I caught a virus or spyware while using a Linux Live CD would it infect my Windows hard-drive? Lastly, is Linux actually more secure than Windows for online banking and such?
No and No. First off a virus/keylogger cannot transfer to a read only file system such as a cd. Second, if you are running Linux, you don’t much have to worry about such things in the first place. Linux is not threatened by such things as easily as windows. I run Ubuntu Linux on all 4 of my pc’s and will never reinstall windows for ANY reason.

the cd can’t get infected. you can’t infect the Win7 unless you mount and add files to the drive with Win7.and yes linux is safer .I;m on it now.using Ubuntu

There is only one sure way to do safe online banking that is to use a Linux live boot disk.where hackers or viruses can’t write to the disk,
People say you can’t get using linux, You can get a virus using Linux People do NOT do their research only last week One of the Linux programmers downloaded a virus from an unofficial Linux website it was a waterfall screen saver,
On booting it up he said it didn’t look right, the middle of the waterfall was disfigured so he ran the mouse pointer over it, by doing that it installed the virus, he then closed is system down and checked the waterfall software program and found it was a virus and were it had placed the virus in his root directory, and got rid of it. He also informed the website where he had downloaded it from the file was removed The virus was spy ware that took personal data bank details and passwords.,
Never think you can’t get a virus, you can if you download files from an un officials linux website, All ways download from officials linux websites, where you know all files have been checked before being placed on the official download server,
