   Download UBUNTU at http://www.ubuntu.com

   Burn the image file to a CD.

   Then reboot wit the CD in the drive and follow the instructions

   There are dozens if not hundred of flavors of Live Linux.
   I like and use Puppy Linux.
   You can check the website fro precise details on the download and setup.
   Knoppix
   ubuntu
   Damn Small Linux

   My own choice for “live CD” is Ubuntu Linux.

   http://www.ubuntu.com/products/GetUbuntu/download?action=show&redirect=download >download link. Note: You will need to decide if you want version 6.06 or 6.10. If you just want a “live” CD so you can practice using Ubuntu, download both versions and use them both. Make your own comparisons which one you like better.

   The file you download is a special .iso file. Once it’s downloaded and saved (just follow the prompts to save it to your desktop) you’ll need to convert the file into the installation CD. To do this you need a special CD burning program. Microsoft recommends this free power toy:

   Once you’ve downloaded and installed it (again, just follow the prompts), here’s how to convert the Ubuntu .iso file into the installation CD:

   1. Insert a blank CD into your CD writer. (Recommend you use a CD-R so it can’t accidentally be re-written.)
   2. Locate the .iso file on your desktop, right click it, and select “Copy Image to CD”.
   3. Click Next, and the recording process begins.
   4. Follow any prompts and once the image has been burned click Finish to exit ISO Recorder. Your new Ubuntu installation CD is ready to go.

   Ubuntu is a great program and the “live CD” will let you use it without actually installing it on your computer. When you’re finished for the day, just remove the CD and your computer will never know you were using Ubuntu. Hope this helps.
