Hey, I’m trying to install Ubuntu from the live CD. The Ububtu option screen comes up, I select Start or Install Ubuntu from Live CD. Then the screen goes black for a moment and give a message giving some sort of timer error and for me to set noapic as a boot option, what could be causing this? I have ran Ubuntu perfectly fine in the past with most of the other versions, this is version 7.10 and it doesn’t seem to wanna work. Any help?

+ Same problem with Linux Mint 4.0

HAVE had ubuntu installed on this system before, and it’s not a dell.

Checked all the forums i can and no real solution found.

also, anyone know any other linux dist. that use the new Beryl with the spinning box desktop?

  2. Have you run the liveCD – simply started it without trying to install? What happens then? If you get to a working desktop, install from there.

If none of the above happens – read the friggin error message and write it down, and do a google search on “ubuntu errormessage” to get the answer.

I have installed Ubuntu on at least two dells without a problem.

You could also do something radical, like a google search on “7.10 yourcomputer” and see if it is operator error or if there are others who have had similar problems, but have also posted solutions.
