I’m trying to install the Core Linux Distribution so I can try to build my own operating system just to see how it works, and when I tried to install a different iso, it didn’t give me the option to install it to the external hdd only the internal one — I’d rather not take apart my computer.
OH and I”m using the black macbook 2.4ghz any help is appreciated..thanks in advance

just so you know it would work easy with a pc since pc is much more free as in freedom and beer than apple….
anyway Im not sure if it works for apple computers,(pretty sure it should work for the x86 ones) but LFS is a good way to build your own opperating system. http://www.linuxfromscratch.org

Not familer with Core Linux. Most distro’s should install fine on a external hard drive, just make sure it doesn’t try to install Grub or anything else on the internal drive. It would be complicated to make Grub work correctly with EFI and Mac OS on the internal drive. On a Mac it is easiest just to hold option on bootup and choose the external drive.
My massive brain, just kidding.
