While sabayon is an interesting distro, it is not for newbies. You would be further ahead if you start with Ubuntu, PCLinuxOS, Mint or a similar easy to install, easy to configure distro. Learn there, and move to Sabayon after you are more comfortable with Linux. You may find Sabayon too frustrating at this point.
