whenever the computer turns on, this program called “Security Tool” pops up and tells me everything is infected. each time i try to open something, im told its infected. are there any linux distro’s that run on a live CD with an antivirus program for windows?
i assumed security tools was the virus
First of all, Security Tools may actually be the virus.
1) Check the above
2) try something like HijackThis
3)Check autostart services in Win XP: >Run…, type msconfig, then check whether something suspicious is started.
4) You could try ClamWin
5) Check the source URLs
You could try the URL
http://www.techmixer.com/repair-and-rescue-windows-os-using-trinity-rescue-kit-live-cd/
Or search for BackTrack distro

You can run anti-spyware from any flash disk you have. Try downloading something to another PC, put it into for example the USB stick and then do a scan. Security Tool is the famous one, so a reputable anti-spyware program would be the best solution, try something like Spyware Doctor, Malwarebytes or SuperAntispyware.
