how will does linux run on a usb flash drive?

I thinking about installing fedora 9 live cd on to a usb flash drive to use on my notebook. How fast does linux run off the flash drive? Is it faster then using a live cd? Can i get it to save the password for my wireless network? Will i be able save files and install programs?

thanks

  1. It runs better than off a cd. It runs quite well actually. Everything functions normally. But if you want to save settings and files back to the flashdrive for next time, it gets more complicated.
