you cant run the live cd from demn tools.
its a compllty diffrent OS so you cant run it in XP liek a regualr piece of software, wihtout a progrma like VMware.
You could use the live cd the way its deisnged to run. jsut pop it in drive restart the pc( make sure CD is first boot device in the BIOS) then the live cd will open up, it wont harm hte pc in any way so is safe to run.
Then if you want to install it make sure you have a spare partion and install it to that, then when pc boots up you can decide on what os you want to use.

i daemon tools is impossible, you can run it with microsoft virtual machine or insert the last ubuntu cd on your pc when windows is started up and select …. – try ubuntu without install

Unfortunately you can’t. You will indeed need a virtual machine. I use VirtualBox http://www.virtualbox.org/ and make a small installation of the Linux LiveCD on there.
