My operating system is Windows Vista! I have a knoppix CD for Linux
http://www.osdisc.com/cgi-bin/view.cgi/products/linux/knoppix/lcd.html
How do I run this DVD? I am not able to find any .exe file in that?
Thanks & Regards,
THAnks Gregory, Alex, Twinkle & TBRMinsanity for your cooperation!!!!
You need to boot your computer from the DVD. As you would in the old days with a floppy. Before proceeding, understand that this is an operating system and you could cause harm to your Vista partition if you don’t proceed with caution and knowledge of the process.

If I’m not mistaken, you should be able to boot from that disc. INsert the disc in your drive and restart the PC. You may also need to adjust your BIOS settings if PC doesn’t boot from the CD drive.
On some PCs you are provided with the boot options, like on Dell you`d have to hit F12 when Dell logo comes up and then select what you want to boot from.

Hi
that’s because there is not one, the first thing you have to take on board is it will need to be a dual boot system. which means it will repartition your hard drive. to allow the linux to be loaded.
running just from a cd is not really an option for linux. off a pen drive maybe as is now the way it is done with notebooks.
running from just a dvd or cd rom is not what it actually does it loads the software into ram to use it there is a better solution in Tiny Core Linux which is so small and would be your best bet. that can be loaded on a pendrive.

Normally you just put the LiveCD in the drive and reset your computer. If you system doesn’t recognize the LiveCD after you reset your computer then you need to go into the BIOS and make sure that the CD/DVD is higher in the boot order then your hard drive.
