My compaq presario v2575us laptop is telling me that my BIOS is not ACPI compliant (on a BSOD), and restarts immediately after the message. Even if I try to boot into safe mode, or with an XP CD or a linux live CD, it doesn’t start up…it shows the same error with safe mode and the XP disk and just freezes with the linux live CD. So I thought that flashing the BIOS should reset the settings and probably get me back on track. This laptop is known for heating up pretty bad, and mine has been doing just that for the past 14 months and now that it has stopped working. I need from anybody. Let me know if there’s any addiitonal info you might need.
hello ging3r,
flashing bios may be the ultimate solution. And to flash bios, all you need is a floppy startup disk with a copy of the new bios of your machine and then bootup with the disk loaded. But I dont know for this particular series of computers, if it can be done in the same way.
However, I suggest that before doing anything like flashing the bios I have several suggestions.
1. During bootup, enter the bios menu. Search for the ACPI setting. Usually this is “settable” in the bios menu. Just be patient and look for it.
2. Remove the graphics card if you can while verifying it. This might be the cause of the blue screen. (This one is just gut feel.)
Feel free to send further details. I know this may not be what you needed but I hope this helps you to some extent.
Good luck. =)
