   The machine is able to power on and running POST? If not it needs some real hands-on help. Putting on a slave drive entails nothing more than closing the pins according to what’s imprinted on the manufacturer label, just run the 2nd connector on the ribbon cable and power plug like normal, you need to fetch a copy of Live CD to boot without HD, I suggest Puppy Linux for this. Windows PE and BartPE are extremely not for doing this let alone they are not likely available.

   Make sure you’re grounded with an electrostatic discharge wristband or touch the metal case of the computer frequently to avoid damaging the electronics with static electricity. Shut both computers off and remove the cables from the outside of the case, then hold in the power button for 15 seconds to discharge any remaining electricity before opening the cases.

   Assuming they’re both desktops with IDE drives (each drive connects to the motherboard with a wide ribbon cable and a white 4-pin power cable), remove the cables from the old drive. Look for a jumper with a diagram labeled MA (master) SL (slave) CS (cable select) and switch it to CS if it isn’t already. Attach it to the middle connector on the ribbon cable in the new computer (there is a single missing pin to make sure you put it on right — just make sure the missing pin and missing hole are lined up). Plug in an unused 4-pin power connector. Turn the new computer on and it should automatically detect the extra hard drive and assign a letter to it.

   there are direction on hdd for jumper settings place the jumper of ur main hdd to master position and the other to slave

   it will be better if u use two different cables for the two drives then there will be no need of jumper settings
