I installed ubuntu on my new 16gb flash drive, did I do it wrong or is flash drive linux nothing more then a live cd? I was hoping to have it save changes I make and let me log in and what not, is this possible or not?
Thanks!
The point of the flash drive was to not have to install it on my computer, I already have machine’s running ubuntu. I wanted a portable version I could use on my laptop which can only have windows installed on it.
You can use Ubuntu as a portable OS, but it needs to be installed on the computer you are using to save files.
You can use the flash drive or burn an ISO image onto a dvd and install it.

It is certainly possible, sort of. There are many different ways to do it. I found a lot of good websites that tell you how to do it, but I can not seem to remember where they are. There should be some useful info on the Ubuntu forums. I would go there, and see if they can help you. If you search the previously asked questions, there should be a lot of info on the subject.
