Fedora linux live CD vs fedora install DVD?

What is the difference when installing fedora from the live CD and installing it from the installation dvd which is 6 times bigger?

  1. I think the live cd is smaller because it only includes 1 desktop environment (KDE or Gnome). It also uses a compressed squashfs, so that also might be one of the reasons it’s smaller. With the live cd, you can try out fedora without actually installing.

I think the install dvd includes both KDE and Gnome

  2. The installation will be essentially the same. The dvd has more programs available to install. Most people use one desktop kde or gnome or one of the lighter ones. The dvd will have several desktops available. You can download from the fedora respositories all of the software on the dvd and more from there.
    Good luck
