Well i just downloaded a live CD for ubuntu 8.1 and i love the OS ( actually i just dislike windows and mac). However I would die without my daily world of warcraft grind. Also the resolutions provided are way to low (only 800×600) I would like to have 1280×800. I have all of the drivers to make this happen. Also if i install Ubuntu will i be able to get windows back if i don’t have a disk?
All in all my questions are as follows:
1. How can i get WoW to run on Linux Ubuntu 8.1?
2. How can i increase the screen resolution to 1280×800?
3. How can I retrive windows if I for some reason dislike Linux?
Please help.
WoW can be run with WINE:

You need Cedega to install WoW. Unfortunately I can’t tell you where to get it since it’s very hard to find these days.
I don’t know how you would go about increasing the screen resolution but I can tell you one thing: Yahoo! Answers isn’t going to know. Go to http://www.ubuntuforums.org to find that out.
The only way to get Windows back is to get your installation disc, slap it in the drive and install away. If you don’t have an installation disc with your computer, you will never be able to return to WinWorld unless you buy Windows again or use your recovery partition (if any, and if it works).
I have a couple of recommendations for you, though…you probably should download Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron and install that instead of 8.10 Intrepid. Intrepid has some issues right now and probably won’t be ready until a couple of months.
And just inserting a bit of my experience here, I used to use Linux. I loved it at first but then I discovered that you have to know computers like the back of your hand if you want to be able to install anything. Also, the installation of one incorrect package file can have very severe ramifications to the operating system. Of course you can always backup and reinstall, but what if you install something that takes away the ability to move files to and from different locations on the hard disk? It can happen in Linux, trust me.
I know this is long advice, but I seriously recommend you keep Windows. After all, there are many more things you can do in Windows than Linux. Of course, you can always mod the kernel in Linux to your liking, but the golden rule of Linux is that you should ALWAYS KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING. If you don’t, a Linux kernel panic could be very well be waiting for you.
Well good luck, and I hope that you find the OS that suits you.
Oh, one more thing: Canonical advertises Ubuntu as a user-friendly Linux distribution. Do not believe a word of this. There is currently no popular Linux distribution that is user-friendly. It may look that user-friendly at first but as soon as you start to get some programs that aren’t in the APT repos, you could be in for trouble.
